There are precautionary steps to take in every market. You have to have an awareness of that when you begin meddling with big business. If you neglect that fact early in your career - then you lose your whole career before it was ever established.
If you choose to ruin your whole career before it was ever founded, then you choose to ruin your reputation before your name starts even getting to work. If your name doesn’t work then you’re destined for failure. You’re destined for disruptive gossip.
It is up to you to correct what is spoken about your name. No one is coming to save you, especially not the Joneses. You have to realize that when you smear someone to their face - they can take your chain off your neck for free. With no effort. That would never be a threat but it’s the truth of the legal system. You can’t do wrong by people, especially people who have their whole lives ahead of them… Especially people who have access to a billion dollars with two phone calls.
People invest in a good story and a great person. They don’t invest in the wrong businesses or the wrong people. They invest appropriately - they are risking their family as much as you are risking your name
